Pretty cupcake decorations from Poetry

The lovely girls from Poetry sent my a sample of their brand new cupcake kits to try out! And as you can see, I had a LOT of fun experimenting with the super cute decorations. The box kits each contain 24 beautiful cupcake cases, as well as 24 cupcake toppers. And since my kit’s theme is Paris, I decided to try it out with some French lavender cupcakes. The recipe is below, if you want it?

French Lavender Cupcakes  (Makes 12 cupcakes)

  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 115g butter (at room temperature)
  • 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp dried lavender flowers (you can dry them out in the sun beforehand, or otherwise in the oven on the day)

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  2. Line a twelve-cup cupcake tray with cupcake liners.
  3. Put the butter and the lavender in a food processor for a few minutes to make lavender butter.
  4. Now cream the butter and the sugar together for about 3 minutes.
  5. Add the eggs and mix well.
  6. Add half of the flour, and mix well.
  7. Add the milk and mix again.
  8. Finally, add the second half of the flour and the baking powder and mix until incorporated.
  9. Spoon the mixture into the cupcake liners, filling them about three quarters of the way.
  10. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean

Buttercream Icing

  • 125g butter (at room temperature)
  • 4 cups icing sugar
  • ¼ cup milk

  1. Cream the butter until smooth.
  2. Add two cups of icing sugar and mix well.
  3. Add the milk and mix again.
  4. Add the last two cups of icing sugar and mix until smooth. (You can add more milk according to your preference.)
  5. Ice your cupcakes, and enjoy!

Hey, I love reading your blog! I love sweet desserts (especially chocolate) but it is often hard for me to make them because two of my family members have celiac – meaning they can’t have gluten in their diets. Have you ever experimented with gluten free recipes?
Thank you for your cute cupcake posts!!!
